Fractures in animals are very common and widely spread , Today we are going to talk about how to help animal during bone fractures and the best medical treatment .
First always consult your vet in case u see abnormal movement , animal recumbent or Lameness in animals .
Fractures can be easily diagnosed by : The clinical signs or X-Ray
The clinical signs can include : diagnosis of fractures
- Abnormal movement , Animal recumbency , Abnormal crickling bone sounds or Lamness while movement .
- Severe Pain when Touching the fractured bone .
- History : Animal was hit , Accident or different Strokes
X-Ray and checking the fractured bone and its severity .
How to deal with Fractures in animals : Treatment
1- Complete rest till getting the Medical help.
2- Consult vet
3- Offer some nutritive foods especially that are high of calcium levels as :
Milk, cheese , Eggs , Cereals , Fruits .
4- After checking the X-Ray , Gibson fixation for about 4 weeks or more is needed .
5- Injections of calcium and Vitamins as : Multivitamin , Antoplex, Calcicure,Lc Vitamins , Sansovit calcium or Caldmag with the appropriate dose as prescribed by your vet .
6- Antibiotic for 3-7 days are very necessary .
7- Anti-inflammatory drugs .
8- Intra-Venous Infusions as : Saline solution or Ringer solutions in case of being Off Food .
9- make sure that the Gibson is Fixing the fractured bone very well .
10 -X-Ray can be repeated after Gibson Fixation to make sure it is in the accurate position .
Finally , Good animal Nutrition in fractures is very important in helping to cure the fracture .
Always Consult your Vet before doing any thing.
Try to take care of your animals to avoid such bone fractures .
If the fractured bone was accompanied with outer skin injury surgical fixation might be needed .
