How to get rid of worm infestations in Cats :


the first thing you must know is how to diagnose whether your cat infected with internal parasites like worms or not .

Diagnosis of worms infestation in cats : 

1- stool examination : some worms might be visible in the stool of the cat as in case of tape worms where parts of the worms may appear as rice in the stool .
Also check the stool for the diarrhea : all types of worms cause loosing stool or watery diarrhea and sometimes may be mixed with blood .

2- Some cats might expel worms in vomiting as in cases of heart worms.
3- Decreased wight of your cat or gradual weight loss might indicate worm infections.
4- Pale conjunctiva , gum and vulva with hair loss.
5- Microscopic examination of the stool of the cat to indicate the type of worms .

Treatment of worms in cats :

* Treatment of roundworms and hookworms:

 The most common treatments for roundworms and hookworms include pyrantel pamoate, milbemycin oxime, and selamectin. Pyrantel pamoate, milbemycin oxime oral treatments, and selamectin topical treatment. Pyrantel pamoate is available over the counter in the United States, and selamectin and milbemycin oxime medications require a prescription. Selamectin is suitable for use in cats less than 8 weeks old, so small kittens receive oral treatments.

* Tape worms :

 The most common drugs used to treat tapeworms are praziquantel and epsiprantel. Oral treatments are received. Praziquantel can be purchased without a prescription and you need a prescription to receive epsiprantel treatment.
