In fact, the cat's body contains about 240 bones that are joined together by ligaments. The skeletal system in cats provides strength and flexibility to the cat because of its structure, which is more flexible than many other mammals, allowing the spine to take such flexibility that the cat can turn itself  upside down while falling in seconds .

When fractures could occur  ?

In many cases, cats have strong bones and a skeletal system that can handle a great  trauma without any harm. This allows cats to leap distances and climb up and down to relatively large heights, but sometimes these jumps can cause injuries and it is the most prominent .

Some other causes of fractures in cats :

Car accidents .

Sudden shocks

Violent encounters directly with other animals

Violent encounters with humans

Falling from great heights

Loss of balance and fall on the focal areas in her body.

Injuries include tense muscles, tendon injuries, ligaments, sprains and fractures. But fractures are most frequent.

Most common types of fractures in the bones of cats:

Fracture of the femur
These fractures are often treated in complex surgery using pins and wires.

Vertebrae fractions:

Is fractures or dislocation in the vertebrae of the spine is very serious, especially as it leads to damage or cut in the spinal cord .. Unfortunately, treatment is difficult sometimes and may not heal and often the veterinarian advise to get rid of the cat

The causes of these fractures are most often auto accidents . Veterinarians have found that if the tail of the cat has been run over it may insist damage to the spine, so we find that if the cat is injured in the tail it may walk for a limp and in cases of elongation the cat loses the ability to control urination and defecation .

Fractures of the jaws:

This is a common type of fracture that afflicts cats and is often either due to a severe shock or an accident of run over or fall and it is generally to treat the malfunction by surgical operations where the use of wires and screws to fix the jaws and reduce the damage as much as possible.

Pelvic fractures :

This type of fracture in many cases is cured without any medical intervention as the cat may be able to support weight and relieve pressure on the pelvis to help to heal over time .. But some fractures are eloquent and need surgical intervention with fixation of iron fasteners and wires to be align the bones properly as the survival of the cat without treatment for a period may cause bone healing wrong and lead to permanent deformities

What is proper behavior in case you suspect a fractured cat ?

Fractures of cats have many causes and it is always due to shock or fight with another cat and there is internal bleeding in some cases so in case you suspect a fracture should consult your veterinarian immediately.

There is also likely to be considerable pain so we recommend that you deal with the cat quietly and not subjected to sudden movements during the transfer to the veterinarian , yet we note that asking the veterinarian as soon as possible is more important.

The veterinarian might  display it on the x-ray machine in the veterinary clinic and to know if there is any internal bleeding to be treated and then the fracture is treated as seen by the veterinarian either in the corpse or through surgical intervention and bone stabilization with iron tools
