Diarrhea in Dogs and Cats
What diarrhea could cause in dogs?
Your veterinarian will try to determine the condition of the dog as a result of diarrhea. When a dog has a general disease (that is, more than one organ in the body), you may notice some of the following symptoms:
Vomiting
Drought
Anorexia
Colic
Hyperthermia
Idle
Diarrheal and / or fluid diarrhea.
What kinds of tests are performed to find out why?
If Dog diarrhea is associated with many of the other symptoms mentioned above, your veterinarian will perform a series of tests to diagnose the disease. This allows for more specialized treatment. These diagnostic tests include x-rays with or without barium, blood tests, , Live sampling of the intestines, and exploratory surgery to examine the abdomen, and may include treatment of specialized drugs and specific food programs, or surgical treatment.
If the dog does not appear to have a general disease of diarrhea, the cause may be less serious. Some of these secondary causes of diarrhea include: stomach or intestinal viruses, intestinal parasites, and erroneous feeding (such as eating trash or any other irritating substance).
A few tests are carried out to control certain parasites or infections, and such cases are treated with drugs to control the bowel movement, drugs that calm intestinal inflammation, and often prescribe a diet for a few days, this treatment helps the body to overcome the problem.
The improvement in the condition appears within 2-4 days, and if the condition does not improve, a change in medication or other tests is made to understand the problem more precisely.
