In dogs, it often starts from the seventh month, in some females it is delayed up to a year and two months, depending on the conditions of the environment around them, health of the dog and according to her hormones.
Of course, the period of menstruation will be the first day of a lot of blood, and it starts to decrease after 5 days, and it can be delayed up to 6 days. In some cases, the blood comes out for a day and then stops for one or two days and this is because of an irregularity in the dog’s hormones, or there will be preparation for menstruation within days from a week to 15 days .
Signs of menstruation :
The vagina is red, swollen, and spotted with blood.
It lasts from 5 to 7 days and is then cleaned from 3 to 5 days.
The difference in days depends on the hormones and dog health, etc.
Of course, after it is cleaned, it starts to have white secretions and a foul smell, and here the vagina is pink in color and the best days of ovulation (1-3-5) when the eggs were released in the uterus.

Pregnancy, of course, appears on the end after 30 days of marriage, but you can notice a protrusion in the nipples after 20 days.

Birth/ Parturition :
Signs indicates that your dog is in parturition :
1- Before giving birth 3-5 days , the female dog becomes restless , tense and searching places.
2- The dog become very friendly to her owner and always rub him .
3- Excessive urination .
4- Decrease or increase appetite .
5- About 10 minutes Before parturition , rupture of the amniotic sac occurs and more water comes from the dog vagina.
6- Opening of the cervix and uterus .
7- Some dog will easily give birth and other some might require some help from veterinarian or practitioner.
8- In case of delayed parturition ask the help of your veterinarian.
9- Care after parturition " cleaning , feeding , and antibiotics to avoid infections "

Breast feeding /
First you must check the mother dog nipples if they are swollen or change in color " e,g yellowish , dark " to make sure it is healthy because many young puppies die after breastfeeding from infected udder .
Breastfeeding period is about 3-4 months .
After the 1st month of puppy life you can try to offer him some feeds as yogurt, celeriac or rice .
Then after another month you can try some little pieces of boiled chicken .
Avoid uncleaned, unhygienic feeding puppies because this might cause severe complications .
