Canine Ringworm : Ringworm infections in dogs
What is Ringworm ?
It is an Infectious skin disease of dogs and cats and other animals and affect human also.
Signs of Ringworm :
- Circular red patches of skin with hair loss.
- Might be some redness and itching.
- Affect many parts of the animal body especially ear, mouth,legs and abdomen also.
- Hair loss at the affected parts.
- Infected animal can transmit the infection to other animals by direct contact with the infected skin .
- The affected area of skin become easy to bleed .
Treatment :
- Must use anti fungal skin cream.
- Washing the animal with iodine lotion.
- Use IVERZINE topical lotion .
- Anti inflammatory and steroid might be used to alleviate the inflammation.
- Wide spectrum antibiotics to avoid secondary infections.
- Sub cutaneous injection of ivermectin and repeated after 15 days.
- Isolation of the affected animal to avoid spread of the infection.
- Periodic washing and cleaning of premises .
