Caring of a new born puppy from birth till weaning .
- If it was the first time parturition for your dog , must avoid any disturbances or high noises for the mother dog while parturition .
- Cleaning the umbilical cord and check the puppies for ant abnormalities or defects .
- After parturition intensive care must be given to let the mother breastfeeding their new born puppies, and this in most cases occurs normally with no efforts , But in some rare cases you had to put the puppies beside their mother and let them feel the nipples and try to suckle .
- In case of puppy can not breast feeding from mother dog, gently try to put his mouth to be in touch with mother dog nipples.
- Breast feeding 5 times daily .
In case of feeding with bottle increase time of feeding intervals .
In the first 20 days offers milk for your puppy , feeding is only with commercial puppy milk replacers .
In case of using cow milk try using this formula : 100 ml Cow or Goat milk + 100 ml pure water + vegetable oil ( 2 teaspoons ) + 3 egg yolk + CACO3 ( Ca Carbonate 100 gm ) ... Blend all and make it little warm ,,,,
At 25 days old can replace puppy food with yogurt , rice, cooked vegetables , and celeriac .
Normally most puppies will open her eyes 10-15 days after parturition.
Great care to avoid diarrhea or constipation .
- Vaccination of puppy :
First vaccination : at 6-8 weeks old DHP
Second vaccination : at 9-11 DHP
Third vaccination : 12-15 weeks DHP .
During vaccination avoid hot weathers , and if the puppy has any sickness it is preferable to delay vaccination till recovery first
Deworming of puppies : twice at 5-8 weeks in between 15 days " e.g at 25 and 40 days ".
In case of fever , diarrhea and or no breast feeding seek your veterinarian help and advice .
